Exhibitions set to impress at Northern Rivers gallery

NORTHERN Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) in Ballina is presenting two tantalising exhibitions in February.

The exhibitions open on Wednesday, February 1, and continue until Sunday, February 26.

The official launch event will be held on Thursday, February 2, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, and all are welcome to attend.

Replanting Riverbanks | Michael Chapus

This exhibition presents paintings about paintings, to please the eyes, to entice the gaze, and to harmonise.

Collected impressions of fleeting locations, evolving through time and fomenting mutations, resting places for contemplative minds.

In these images one may recognise the influence of romanticism, brushwork reminiscent of Van Gogh, or traces of Pissarro's subtle compositional tools.

At first glance it may not appear as such, but nothing has been left to chance.

Innovations and Perceptions | Ballina Art Society Members Group Show

Ballina Art Society proudly presents its best and innovative works produced in recent years leading up to 2016.

This is a group exhibition of works by Ballina Art Society members, all with different styles and approaches to their work.

Exciting abstractions of the world, innovative materials and expansive thinking will be seen in the selection of works on display.

The Northern Rivers Community Gallery is located at 44 Cherry Street, Ballina, and is open Wednesday to Friday, from 10am until 4pm, and weekends, from 9.30am until 2.30pm.
