'Walk in my shoes': MP looks to unite ‘unsung heroes’
INSPIRED by the more than 30,000 people on the Central Coast who care for someone every day, Emma McBride MP will host the 'Walk in my shoes' Carers Conference on December 13 at Mingara Recreation Club.
"Caring for my Dad has helped me understand some of the challenges carers face and the need for more support," Emma McBride said.
"Carers are the unsung heroes in our community. It is demanding, and often there is no respite."
"This is my way of giving back to carers on the Coast. This event is for carers to share their experience dealing with day-to-day life. It will bring carers together, to take part in workshops, interactive exhibitions, and access support groups, advocates and government agencies."
"Please join me at this event."
The conference, to be held from 9am - 1pm, will consist of workshops from NDIS, Dementia Australia, Carers NSW, Candles Cancer Support Group, Younger Onset Dementia Social Support, Centrelink, My Aged Care, Health Direct Australia and more.
Expert presenters include 'The Wholesome Collective' cooking demonstration, providing food and nutrition advice, and members of the 'Dementia-friendly Kiama' project, a community-wide inclusion project for people living with dementia.
RSVP is essential by calling the office of Emma McBride MP on 43530127 or book online at emmamcbride.com.au
