WATCH: Pianist, 84, stun shoppers with magical performance

THE old piano sat silent and gathering dust as shoppers browsed the shelves, ignoring the big, brown and tattered instrument.

It looked like it hadn't been played in years. It would probably sound even worse.

But that didn't discourage 84-year-old Fern Bezanson.

Like a moth to a flame, Fern was instantly attracted to the instrument, taking a seat behind the keys and letting her fingers work their magic.

"I am like that," Fern told the Windsor Star. "If there's an old piano sitting somewhere I'll say 'I'll try this out' and I go over."

And the shoppers at the Value Village in Chatham, Ontario were certainly glad she did as Fern treated them to a performance they will never forget.

In footage of the show, a delighted Fern lets her fingers cruise along the ivories as the melody swirls and bounces through the store in Canada.

The video, shot by Michelle Mainwaring, was in an instant viral success, racking up 147,000 views on Facebook and over 90,000 on Twitter.

Not bad for a pianist who can't read sheet music!

"I can't explain it. I would hear a song and I could kind of pick it out when I was a kid," Fern said.
