Elderly man knocked out in vicious attack

AN ELDERLY man is in hospital following a brutal assault this morning at his Caloundra workplace.

Ray, a 71-year-old cleaner at Stockland Caloundra, was working by himself when a man approached him and allegedly hit him in the back of the head.

His son, Jason, said it was "quite a vicious attack".

"He was knocked out cold, unconscious, on the ground bleeding," Jason said.

Ray often uses a leaf blower in the Stockland carpark on his early morning shifts, and was approached recently by a man who "abused him and then wandered off" for making too much noise.
