VIDEO: Elderly Toowoomba couple crashes into water tank

UPDATE: Two elderly people were injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a water tank.

Emergency services were called to Crebra Cres at Top Camp about 7.30 last night, finding one person trapped in a vehicle.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said one person was encapsulated and crews worked to free them, which they did by 8.11pm.

Two people were taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Sunrise reported an elderly driver veered off the New England Hwy before crashing.

A passer-by witnessed the crash and freed an elderly woman.

Firefighters later freed the male driver.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman station officer Cameron Ashmore said the couple was very lucky to hit the tank.

"It actually slowed the impact down so it was good they didn't hit the power pole, they hit the tank."

The couple was reportedly shaken but not injured.

EARLIER: A motorist and passenger crashed into a water tank in Toowoomba, suffering injuries. 

Paramedics were called to the scene at Top Camp where a car had crashed into a water tank on Crebra Cr  about 7.30pm yesterday. 

Two patients with minor injuries were transported in stable conditions to Toowoomba Hospital.
