GINGER MEGGS EXHIBITION: Make a beeline to the Bunker Cartoon Gallery on Coffs Harbour's City Hill for the Ginger Meggs exhibition celebrating 95 years of adventures for the red -headed Aussie rogue and the cartoonists who have chronicled his adventures. On show daily until January 29, 10am-4pm (not Christmas Day).
CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT: Grab a rug or folding chair and head to Sawtell Golf Club for Carols by Candlelight on December 22, from 6pm to 9.30pm. Free entry, children's activities. Candles and glow sticks for sale, songbooks gold coin donation. Carols begin after the arrival of Santa around 7.15pm. BYO food or buy takeaways from the club. Organised by the golf club and Sawtell Uniting Church. All funds raised go to Sawtell BMX Club.
GURRUUJA JUUN (WHALE TAIL) ECO TOUR: Immerse yourself in traditional Aboriginal culture with the Gurruuja Juun (Whale Tail) Eco Tour of Little Beach and Scotts Head headland from 10am on Saturday December 24, hosted by the Unkya Aboriginal Land Council. Hear Gumbaynggirr Creation stories, see bush and sea tucker demonstrations, learn about traditional food sources, hunting methods and more. BOXING DAY RACES: Catch the neddies going around the track at the Boxing Day Races at Bowraville Racecourse on Tuesday December 26. The volunteer Nambucca River Jockey Club offers a true friendly country race meeting experience at Bowraville Racecourse on Rodeo Drive. Betting facilities, food and refreshments.
AUSTRALIAN KATY PERRY AND TAYLOR SWIFT TRIBUTE SHOW: Teen girls in the family tribe might appreciate tickets to the Australian Katy Perry and Taylor Swift Tribute Show tucked into their Christmas stocking. The show, including a live band, prizes and give-aways, is at C.ex Coffs at 4pm on Thursday December 29. Tickets are $5 and children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
NEW YEAR'S EVE NIGHT OUT: Polish your dancing shoes for a New Year's Eve night out at Grafton District Services Club on Saturday December 31 with musical duo Even Stephens. This brother and sister act have been singing together since they were children. Expect everything from country to classic top 40, rock and roll and original numbers From 8-11.45pm.
BROOMS HEAD FAMILY FUN DAY: Dust off the excesses of New Year's Eve and take your whole mob along to the Brooms Head Family Fun Day from 9am on January 1. This is the only place in Australia you can compete in broom head tossing at Brooms Head. All kinds of races including beach boat races, sandbag races, tug of war and water carrying. Market stalls. Gold coin donation.
SAWTELL NEW YEAR'S FUN RUN: Greet the New Year and cheer on the runners in the annual Sawtell New Year's Fun Run, now over 50 years old and believed to the Australia's oldest, followed by the annual Sawtell Super Fun Day with its street parade to the Sawtell Beach Holiday Park and a full day of activities, rides, stalls, races and announcement of Sawtellian of the Year for 2017.
YAMBA OCEAN SWIMS: Take the plunge or just get you toes sandy and encourage the swimmers at the Yamba Ocean Swims at picturesque Yamba Main Beach on January 2.
