Diving Vanuatu opens up a whole new world
NEXT week a group of keen local divers are heading to Hideaway Island - arguably the most popular dive resort in Vanuatu.
From the capital Port Vila, it is a 20-minute trip by car to the beach where a small boat transfers the divers a short five-minute ride to the resort.
At this time of year, the days are balmy and drier than in the wetter summer season.
The water temperature is a comfortable 26c.
The coral reefs around the Hideaway Island Marine Park are easily accessible by boat and are especially suitable for novice divers.
There are numerous wrecks for the more experienced divers to explore in Vila Harbour.
Not only will the divers be diving up to three times each day, they also will be invited to participate in a nearby village tour to experience first-hand the traditional culture of the friendly, forever-smiling locals.
It should be a great seven days full of fun.
