Discover Walkabout Creek, just 12km from Brisbane City

YOU'LL feel as though you are in the middle of the bush but Walkabout Creek, in the southern section of D'Aguilar National Park, is just 12km from the centre of Brisbane.

Easily accessible by car or public transport, a mid-week visit to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre makes an enjoyable and relaxing day trip, with something to satisfy everyone.

Make your first stop the Visitor Centre where you can obtain a free map and ask about the day's schedule. While you're there, enjoy a virtual panoramic viewing experience of nearby national parks.

Then stroll into the Wildlife Centre. It only costs a few dollars to spend time watching native reptiles, amphibians, fish and mammals.

Enjoy the antics of one of their most unusual animals as Burrun the platypus is fed during one of the informative Ranger shows offered daily.

When you have finished exploring the Wildlife Centre, make use of your map and discover why there is more to Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre than meets the eye.

Situated near the Enoggera Reservoir, you can explore the natural bush surroundings of the lake. Stroll along easy walking tracks or relax in the shade by the water's edge and listen to the sounds of the bush. It's the ideal spot to sit, enjoy a chat with friends or even spread out a picnic and make the most of Brisbane's sunny weather.

You are welcome to bring your own picnic or you can order a picnic hamper the day before from the Green Tree Frog café, the casual dining spot at the Visitor Centre. Alternatively, you can choose to dine in comfort in the café and partake of their tasty selection of sandwiches and cakes for lunch or afternoon tea.

The Visitor Centre and Wildlife Centre are both wheelchair-accessible with assistance.
