De-clutter and regift those unwanted Christmas presents

ONLINE gifting website Gift It Now has partnered with St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland (Vinnies) to give Gold Coast locals the opportunity to regift unwanted Christmas presents to those less fortunate with the launch of its 'Gift Exchange' program.

Locals are encouraged to get involved with Gift It Now's Gift Exchange by visiting Vinnies shops at Burleigh, Nerang, Arundel, Tugun and Palm Beach with their unwanted or un-needed Christmas haul from Monday, January 8 to Sunday, January 14.

In exchange for their acts of kindness, Gift It Now will provide each participant with a Gift It Now voucher, ranging in value from $10 to $50, which can be used towards one of over 2,000 experiences available on their website.

Gift It Now's digital marketing manager Brittney Deguara said the online gifting company is thrilled to partner with an important charity to give residents the opportunity to help those less fortunate.

"Here at Gift It Now, we know finding the right gift can be hard and it's almost inevitable that over the holiday period we accumulate one or two gifts that we know we won't use throughout the year," said Ms Deguara.

"The Gift Exchange initiative allows the Gold Coast community to easily donate their unwanted presents following Christmas to support those in need.

"It's a great way to give back to the community and re-gift some of those Christmas presents you won't use in return for a memorable experience."

St Vincent de Paul Society South Coast executive officer Kris Martin said he welcomes the partnership which encourages people to bring their new items into Vinnies shops, receive a thankyou gift back from Gift It Now, and directly help the charity support Gold Coast locals in need.

"People are really doing it tough in this city, especially over Christmas and the New Year, which is one of our busiest times," Mr Martin said.

"We all find ourselves with unwanted or un-needed household items at Christmas, like clothes, books or toys. These are exactly the types of things Vinnies needs to sell in our shops, or give away to people in need via our Conferences and support centres.

"We're happy Gift It Now is finding new ways to encourage our community to support each other."

Vinnies has been helping Gold Coast locals for more than 40 years and is part of one of Australia's largest and most iconic charities working hard to assist people in need and combatting social injustice.

The charity has more than 12,500 members and volunteers across the state helping those who are struggling to take control of their lives while restoring their dignity, providing a hand up, not just a hand out.

Gift It Now is a Gold Coast based company which lives by the mantra 'experiences are better than things' TM. With more than 2,000 experiences to gift including hot air balloon flights, dinner cruises, horse rides, cooking classes and skydives, everyone can find the perfect gift for a friend or loved one for every occasion.
