OUR hearts are broken by the news that Days of our Lives may be no longer air after 50 years on the box.

The daytime television show has been a staple of many a household, but the word from America is that this is set to change.

It has been reported widely in the USA that the iconic show, which started in 1965, is due to cease after the word was put out by current cast members.

According to People Magazine, several of the actors on the long-running soap opera have been told that 2017 will be the last year of the show.

"Basically, we've heard that there won't be a Days in 2018," a source connected with the show told the magazine.

NBC executives have not yet confirmed nor denied the rumors
