Former dancer now 'Romancing the Coast'
FORMER professional choreographer and dancer turned Gold Coast author Diane Demetre will be one of the key attractions at Romancing the Coast - a brand new literary event.
To be held at Mantra on View 9am- 4pm, 22 September, Romancing the Coast is an author book signing event at Surfers Paradise.
The one-day signing will feature 37 authors including local, international, self and traditionally published authors. With readers having a chance to meet the authors, purchase books and have them signed. Following the event there will be an after-party offering a chance to chat, mingle and dance the night away.
For Diane it's a nice chance to talk to her readers here on the Gold Coast - her home since 1985 when she moved down from Brisbane to be assistant director and choreographer at Jupiter's Casino.
She loved it so much she not only stayed but event set her first book here and she believes the Gold Coast energy flows into her other books.
"Doing an author's signing event is a great opportunity to go face-to-face with readers," Diane said.
Diane came to professional writing later in life - having "dabbled" for many years but other business interests kept her busy and then Fifty Shades of Grey was released, and she felt compelled to write something aimed at empowering women as a reaction to that book. The result was Dancing Queen - "about a 40-year-old woman having sex on her own terms". Tiny Dancer and Dance To A Gypsy Beat followed in the same series.
Romancing the Coast will be a chance to talk to Diane about these books and her many others including her latest Retribution and her forthcoming murder mystery series
The day will also feature the talents of internationally acclaimed narrator Andi Arndt who will also host a workshop on the Friday afternoon. The "Embracing Audiobooks" event will be directed at the authors, but readers are welcome (whether they are attending the signing or not) though tickets will be sold separately.
