Curious cat tries to catch snow

WATCH: Curious cat can't work out falling snowflakes

CURIOSITY killed the cat, so the old saying goes.

So it's no wonder that this inquisitive cat was extra cautious when it tried to catch snowflakes as a storm hit the south-central regions of France.

Video of the cat-versus-snow encounter shows the cat, named Miette, crouching under a table as the snow falls around it.

Miette continually paws at the falling snow only to quickly retreat from the cold, wet flakes.

The storm left nearly 200,000 homes without power and trapped more than 2,000 vehicles on snow-clogged roads.

Hundreds of motorists were evacuated and transported to emergency accommodation, but some were forced to sleep in their vehicles.

Meanwhile, 4000 passengers were forced to sleep the night in a train stranded at Lyon's Central Station.
