Coolum Theatre Players presents Sylvia
TO BRING you up to speed, Greg, played by Shaun Bennett, a financial broker whose career is winding down, brings home a dog he found at Stumer's Creek - or that has found him - bearing only the name "Sylvia" on her name tag.
A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia, played by Jesse Hana Ellison, becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age.
The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.
This modern canine comedy about a marriage and a dog is sensitive and heart-warming. And anyone who owns a family pet will truly enjoy Coolum Theatre Players interpretation and production of "Sylvia" by the esteemed Linda Gefken.
Jesse is no stranger to the Coolum stage having performed many lead roles in nine productions since 2009. She thought they were all challenging, but then she read "Sylvia"!
Being an animal lover (especially cats) playing Sylvia (female dog) is a bitch of a role, but a challenge she accepts. "Woof... I hope you enjoy the show..."
Shaun has been actively involved in Sunshine Coast community theatre for over 5 years.
His passion lies in the study and performance of comedy and improvisation after establishing Sunshine Coast's own Yes Way Theatre. Shaun is now excited to bring his love of animals to the stage, in "Sylvia".
