Cooking guru launches updated low-fat cookbook series

THE queen of low-fat cooking and Sunshine Coast grandmother Annette Sym will launch her updated 2017 versions of her best-selling cookbooks at her local Buderim Village newsagency on Thursday, March 23, at 11am.

Annette has been a trailblazer since launching her first cookbook 19 years ago.

Fast forward to 2017 and this self-published author has sold more than four million of her healthy, low-fat Symply Too Good To Be True cookbooks.

She aims to reach the next generation with her revised cookbooks which include the same great recipes but with a fresh new look.

"My recipes have become family favourites," Annette said.

"I have mums ringing to reorder the books because their kids have left home and taken my cookbooks with them."

Annette's no-fad message has remained the same since publishing her first cookbook.

"I have seen so many fad diets come and go," she said.

"My philosophy of having a healthy diet that is low in saturated fat and calories is still as relevant now as it was back in 1997."

Annette's mission is to show this new generation that healthy and delicious can go hand in hand when they cook the Symply Too Good To Be True way.

It's a mission that Annette takes seriously with statistics showing 65% of Australians are now classed as overweight or obese.

"No matter what your age, if you are overweight, losing 10% of your body weight will make a difference to your long-term health," Annette said.

When asked the secret to her longevity in the weight-loss industry, Annette cites having a natural rapport with people who are battling the bulge.

She once weighed 100kg and successfully lost 35kg and has maintained her healthy weight for more than 23 years.
