Construction to start on $30m upgrade of hospital
ST VINCENT'S Private Hospital Toowoomba has announced Hutchinson Builders as the preferred contractor for the build of the $30 million Clive Berghofer Operating Theatre Suite.
CEO Kathryn McKeefry said the announcement is good news for the hospital and wider community.
"The project will add six new state-of-the-art operating theatres and a new day surgery unit at the hospital, but it will also inject capital and create employment opportunities to support the local economy.
"Hutchinson Builders are a large construction firm with a local base and extensive local knowledge and connections. Their experience in major projects and especially hospital projects will ensure our state-of-the-art facility is delivered on time and within budget."

Ms McKeefry said preliminary works have been completed in preparation for construction to begin in January 2017.
"Construction will occupy the space around and including Entrance one, the area currently known as the main hospital entrance, Front Reception and Admissions.
"For the duration of the project, Front Reception and Admissions will be relocated to Entrance 2," she said.
Ms McKeefry said the Hospital will communicate regularly with the community about changes on site.
"We will also make every effort to reduce the impact of noise and disruption," she said.
Completion date for the project is December 2017.
