QCWA COOMERA BRANCH

ALTHOUGH QCWA is not just about tea and scones, there is no doubt that cookery contests attract a lot of attention and are hotly contested. Coomera's latest contest saw master shortbread maker Rosie Murphy take out first prize again, while our newest member scored in the brownies section. Ginger scones featured at morning tea. Five members received awards at the QCWA State Conference in Knitting and Crochet, Floral Art and Soft Craft. AT OUR Christmas Party, the tap class entertained members and guests. They danced two numbers: Chattanoooga Choo-Choo and Five Foot Two with a lot of verve and vivacity! The U3A Tap class meets every Thursday morning from 9am to 11am, at the Lawson Street Community Centre, Southport. OUR hard-working volunteers at the Never Alone Friendship are nearing the end of a very busy year, spent ensuring the guests were looked after and the program met its aims and goals in serving the community.

The Centre is nearing its 7th anniversary and has changed many peoples lives and opens every Wednesday between 9 am and noon and meet at the Burleigh Heads Masonic Hall, First Ave Burleigh Heads. For a $2 donation, guests can enjoy morning tea, listen to guest speakers or entertainers and attend the occasional outing. Table games, bingo, trivia quizzes all go toward a fun filled morning.
