NEW to Tweed Area? Retired or Semi Retired? Join us at Banora Point Probus. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month at the South Tweed Sports Club at 10am. We are a mixed club, and have interesting speakers, as well as an outing each month. The speaker for May 27 is retired Supreme and High Court Judge David Ashton Lewis. Hastings Point/Tweed Coast
WE WILL hold our next meeting on Tuesday, June 19 at the Tricare Retirement Community, 87 Tweed Coast Rd, Hastings Point. Our speaker will be Kim Elderton, a clinical nurse specialist who worked on a hospital ship off the coast of Madagascar, after 25 years of working in operating theatres. Her presentation will be interesting and very informative. Next meeting at same venue on Tuesday, July 17 with chef Nathan Quinell.
TINTENBAR COMMUNITY AID NETWORK
JOIN us for an excursion to Byron for the community on June 1. The trip will include a ride on the "world's first solar train”, followed by lunch at the Beach Hotel and a scenic bus tour via Byron Lighthouse. Thanks go to the Boral/Teven Quarry which is sponsoring the trip. The bus departs from Tintenbar Hall at 11am on June 1 to Byron and returns at 3pm. Cost is $3 plus cost of your lunch. CLASSES are held on Fridays at 9.30am at the Community Hall (near the oval) 1 Tweed Coast Rd, Pottsville. We recently held a demo at the Pottsville Men's Shed for the PCA seniors celebration festival. We even had Member for Tweed - Geoff Provest get up and have a go. At our classes we have special offers for novice beginners (first hour) and follow on with an improvers/early interm hour. There are also classes on Gold Coast and Brisbane. WE HAVE another great speaker for our Friday Forum in June. Some of you may know local lady Michel Quirk. Michel is recently retired from nursing and a long career in Health, specialising as a diabetes educator. This subject is so important to us all, as so many of us either have diabetes or support a family member with it. Michel will talk about living with, managing and hopefully preventing diabetes. AOOB Twin Towns Branch
THE Australasian Order of Old Bastards Twin Towns Branch meet on the first Friday of each month at 2pm in the Secret Garden Room at South Tweed Sports Club. The branch enjoys fun, friendship and bus trips whilst raising money for local Children's Charities, Story Dogs, Palliative Care and the Children's Wards at both Tweed Heads and Westmead Hospitals. THE Gold Coast South-Twin Towns branch of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia (served in any Forces of the Commonwealth "between” 1951 -1972) next meet on Friday, May 25 at 10am in the "RSL Sub Branch Anzac Room” of the Twin Towns Resort. VIEW Club proudly supports The Smith Family's Learning for Life program which provides disadvantaged students with financial assistance, emotional support and access to educational programs to help them get the most from their education. Members were delighted recently when the CEO of South Tweed Sports, Angus Southwell, presented the VIEW Club's treasurers with a cheque for an additional student.LADIES who are interested in fun and friendship and in finding out more about how our club supports The Smith Family are invited to join us for lunch on the first Thursday of each month at South Tweed Sports 11am for a two course lunch including tea or coffee.
