TWEED HOSPITAL AUXILIARY
THE Tweed Hospital Auxiliary will be selling tickets for its Christmas Raffle. There is a wonderful first prize of $500 cash and also other prizes. Tickets will be on sale at various venues around the Tweed so watch out for them. All proceeds go towards purchasing equipment for the Tweed Hospital. You never know, you or a loved one may need this equipment one day.
TACT COMPUTER CLUB
WE ARE coming to the end of a wonderful year of being able to assist students at our friendly computer club. All tutors have gained a lot of self-satisfaction seeing students walk out of the classes with a smile on their faces. The TACT classes will finish on Thursday, December 14. The new year will start Friday, February 2, 2018 which will be the course enrolment day for new and prospective members. we restart classes Monday, February 5, classes are available Monday to Friday.The club is located at South Tweed Sports Club, 4 Minjungbal Drive, Tweed Heads South. KINGSCLIFF LIONS CLUB
COME along and support the Lions Kingscliff Beachside Markets, Marine Parade, Kingscliff. Held every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 8am-1pm. All stall holder fees are collected by Kingscliff Lions Club and disbursed to the needy in our local community.
WE ARE offering enrolment for 2018 from November 1. New members who sign up for 2018 can start their memberships immediately and are welcome to join in classes for the balance of 2017 at no extra charge. New and returning members who enrol in November, December and before 12 noon on January 24, 2018, go into a draw for refund of membership fee as 1st prize, and refund of course fees up to $30 as 2nd prize. WE HAVE had for another great year of learning and fun. The last term ends on December 15 and we start again at the end of January. The annual fee will still be fantastic value of only $40 to attend as many of the 42 classes as you like. VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) is a valued part of The Smith Family and proudly supports their Learning for Life Programmes, which help children in need to participate more fully in their education.
OUR next dinner meeting will be on Monday, December 4 at Murwillumbah Services Club. The meeting starts at 6.30pm for a two course dinner at 7pm. Cost $25. Twin Towns Evening
WE MEET on the second Wednesday of each month at the Tweed Heads Bowls Club 6.30pm. New members are most welcome to join a group of like minded Ladies to enjoy a great meal, conversation and Guest speakers. Our aim is to raise money and awareness of the need for education of disadvantaged Australia children. A valued part of the Smith Family. Northern Rivers and Gold Coast Combined
A LARGE group of members recently enjoyed a very interesting visit to impressive Government House in Brisbane. Purple Jacaranda trees were blooming profusely in the magnificent gardens and admired by all. Morning tea was a delightful affair in the beautiful Investiture Room, where aides also outlined Government House protocol. A walk through Government House was later undertaken with informed volunteers. Everyone enjoyed lunch afterwards at the historic Breakfast Creek Hotel, followed by a fascinating bus tour / commentary of Brisbane. Contact: Sandra Clarke on 0417346321.
WE ARE holding an Art Exhibtion at Kirra Hill Community Centre on Kirra Hill, November 13 to 24. Exhibitors of Heather Bell art group will be selling all genres of art just in time for Christmas. THE newly redeveloped Tweed Heads Library will open on December 6. To assist with relocating over 43,000 items, the temporary library will be closed from Monday, November 13 until Tuesday, December 5. Please continue to return your books in the external returns chute. Reservations may be collected from Kingscliff or Murwillumbah branches or from the Mobile library on Wharf street in Tweed Heads on Monday, November 13 or Monday, November 27. A Resilient Life - A workshop for Carers. This workshop, presented by Chad Walkaden, will address some of the challenges experienced by carers. WE are a small group called the Elders and would like to invite any seniors interested to see the show, Disney Aladdin the Broadway Musical at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC in February 2018.
