THE Southport Military Heritage Museum will again open on Sunday, May 6 from 9am-12noon. WE ARE organising the VIEW Gold Logies with the event to celebrate the Club's 50th birthday and 50 years of supporting The Smith Family and bringing fun and friendship to countless number of lovely ladies is definitely something to celebrate. RECENTLY we celebrated our 25th birthday though an extremely wet morning, this did not deter members and guests, from enjoying a wonderful gathering to renew memories, and friendships. Inaugural and founding member Florence Drury gave an outline on the History of the past 25 years, noting her husband John was to be the first president back in the year 1993. Guest Owen Jones also paid tribute to the Club. The catered Luncheon was to be enjoyed by all, Thanks to Bev and her organizing skills, for an outstanding day, also Ron & Rob and our court Jester John. Not forgetting our men who manned the door on what was to be a very wet morning. Thus, making for a most memorable day. Our recent Changeover Luncheon, convened at Arundel, once more was a wonderful happy gathering, with members enjoying the friendly atmosphere, created by our President Judy. GENERAL meetings are held on the third Monday of each month. Our boat trip on the 'Rum Runner' on Coomera River, with lunch at Saltwater Creek Hotel was a great day out. AS THE Tweed Hospital Auxiliary is looking at new fundraising activities we will not be having our usual fete this year. As a result of this we will not be needing donations of pre loved clothing and household goods. WE REHEARSE from 10-11.30am every Thursday morning at Tugun Village Community Centre with a tea and bikky break in the middle. We sing lots of different songs, mostly a cappella although sometimes we use percussion and drums. We also do some sound meditations which really help people find their true voice. Sound meditations can also help reduce stress, and are very relaxing and fun to do. Please do join this lovely group of people at our weekly sing.
