QCWA COOMERA

A GROUP of members recently met to learn how to crochet "trauma teddies". These are made to distribute to police stations, doctors' surgeries, hospitals and any place where children need a comforting toy to cuddle. Some may be entered in our Combined Contests day on April 19, when Knitting and Crochet, Floral Art and Photography will be judged. AN INVITATION is extended to visit the our Open Day at 320 Ashmore Road Benowa, on Sunday, May 28. This event for children and adults is being held across Australia and New Zealand with botanic gardens being the main attraction. Celebrations include community planting, plant propagation, sale of regional plants and herbs. Guided walks and Flowers by Friends will be active. BURLEIGH WATERS PROBUS CLUB

GENERAL Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month. In March our monthly outing was Barefoot Bowls and Lunch at Robina; and at the AGM a new Management Committee was elected for 2017/18, with a lunch afterwards.

Retired or semi-retired men are invited to join us at Club Meetings, 10am on the 3rd Monday of each month at Burleigh Waters Community Centre, 131 Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters. Nominally a men's club, but wives are very welcome to share the club's fellowship, friendship and fun at all club meetings and outings.

RAAF ASSOCIATION GOLD COAST

WITH continued interest and new enquiries a further meeting of the RAAF Association will be on April 19 at 10am.

This meeting will define all areas of interest to encourage more RAAF Association members. Current serving members of the Air Force, ex-RAAF, WRAAF, AAFA (Air Training Corps) instructors over 18 years, and those related to anyone who served in the air force and the allied forces are most welcome.

Autumn is a delightful time to visit your local Historical Museum, situated at 8 Elliott Street, Surfers Paradise, just off Bundall Road near the Ashmore Road roundabout. It is open every Sunday from 10am to 3pm and by appointment at other times for schools and community groups. Bring a picnic lunch or enjoy a cuppa with the friendly volunteers who are on hand to answer any questions. The many buildings include Veivers Cottage, a replica of a typical early settlers home. CORRIGAN WALK ART TOUR

BOND University and Bleach Festival will be offering Gold Coast art buffs a rare insight into Australia's largest private collection of indigenous art when it runs its Corrigan Walk Art Tour. A fascinating insight into the artworks, the artists and the history of Indigenous art. The free tours are available - Bond University students, staff as well as the general public are able to participate in the tours which are taking place on: Thursday, April 6 from 10am-11am, Tuesday, June 20 from 10am-11am and Friday, October 20 from 2pm-3pm.
