SENIORS WEEK

SENIORS Week Queensland will be celebrated from August 19 to 27. You can include your activities for Seniors Week in our Calendar of Events for our August edition of the Gold Coast Seniors Newspaper by emailing your notices to communitynotes@seniorsnewspaper.com.au. in word format. This is free of charge. Our deadlines for any events will be August 1.

A.O.O.B'S TWIN TOWNS BRANCH

OUR monthly meetings are held on the first Friday of each month at South Tweed Sports Club, Tweed Heads South at 2pm (NSW time) in the Secret Garden Room. We are a not for profit organisation raising money for local children's charities, story dogs, palliative care, baby and children's wards at Tweed Heads Hospital and Westmead Children's Hospital. GOLD COAST & HINTERLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM

THERE is an idyllic little area of land hidden away at 8 Elliott Street, Surfers Paradise which boasts a wonderful selection of historical buildings and provides visitors with a comprehensive snapshot of Gold Coast history. Why not come along to the Gold Coast & Hinterland Historical Museum on any Sunday from 10am-3pm and enjoy all that is on display for your enjoyment? Displays include farm machinery and tools, Aboriginal artefacts, equipment from the Southport Cable Station, a large photographic display of early days on the Coast and in the Hinterland and other interesting memorabilia. The beautiful grounds are ideal for strolling and are often utilised by community groups such as Probus and garden clubs. Entry is by donation. The Museum can be opened by arrangement at other times. TWEED HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

WE WILL be holding its Annual General Meeting on Monday, August 7 at 2pm in the auditorium of the Tweed Heads Civic Centre, Cnr Wharfe & Brett Streets, Tweed Heads. All are welcome to attend. Don't forget that the Auxiliary holds Bingo sessions every Sunday at 1pm at the Tweed Heads Bowls Club. Why not come along for a fun afternoon and great cash prizes. All proceeds go to the Tweed Hospital Auxiliary to purchase equipment for the Tweed Hospital. Support your local hospital. 

NATIONAL SERVICEMEN'S ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA (QLD)

THE Gold Coast South - Twin Towns Branch of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia. Serving from Tallebudgera to The Tweed will hold its next General Meeting on Sunday, July 23 at 10am in the "RSL Sub Branch Anzac Room" of the Twin Towns Resort. If you served in any Forces of the Commonwealth "between" 1951 -1972 then why not join us and re kindle the camaraderie you experienced during your Service. COOLANGATTA SENIOR CITIZENS CENTRE FOR '50 & OVER SENIORS'

WE WELCOME all Gold Coast & Tweed area residents and visitors. The Centre has a large range of activities including, bingo, new vogue dancing, computer lessons, cards, choir, indoor bowls, craft, light exercises, line dancing, mah jong, qigong, rock & roll, eight ball, table tennis, tai chi, yoga, guitar & ukulele, bus trips, hairdressing and beauty.
