BLACK AND WHITE: Special styling and specifications for Black editions of SV6 and SS Commodores

THE Aussie-built Commodore may be counting down the months until a sad final farewell, but to tug at your patriotic heart strings Holden is offering SV6 and SS "Commodore Black" special editions to add more value to an already attractive package.

Available on sedan, sportwagon and ute body styles, the new Commodore Black models bring unique styling and a decent amount of additional technology for an extra $1000 above the RRP of the SV6 and SS, meaning $37,290 and $44,990 respectively for sedan versions.

Buyers score unique 18-inch alloys with a black finish on the wheel ports, there's a black grille, black surrounds for the daytime running lights, black mirror scalps and Black Edition badging. Sedans also gain a black lip spoiler, while all cars get red stitching on the seats and Black Edition carpet floor mats.

Black Editions are given a colour head up display and satellite navigation, adding to the SV6 and SS's standard inclusions like auto park assist, rear camera, reverse traffic alert, MyLink infotainment and 8-inch colour touch screen.

In other Holden news we've been given an indication of what the new Colorado ute will look like before it arrives later this year, following the unveiling of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado.

Revealed in Brazil, the redesigned Colorado brings updated styling alongside engineering and technology improvements, not least Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across the range.

Holden says the 2017 Colorado has been developed with "key Australian engineering input to ensure it would meet the needs of a range of customers in different markets. We've worked hard to make sure we have engineered greater refinement without losing any of Colorado's tough characteristics, off-road capability and impressive towing capacity."

Finally, the current model Colorado will gain an LS-X 4x4 Crew Cab variant this month. It introduces 16-inch alloy wheels, alloy sports bar, front fog lights, smoked bonnet protector and carpet flooring over the LS model on which it's based.

The LS-X is priced at $37,990 driveaway including free auto transmission and three years free servicing.
