Caring for the community for 50 years

CELEBRATIONS of 50 years of community service by longstanding local Lions member.

Congratulations eighty nine year old Alan Moore from Lions International. This month Past District Governor of Lions - Alan Moore has been honoured with a special medallion marking the 50th year of service to those in need.

Alan Moore has a distinguished history of service. In his home state of Tasmania he was an Apexian and a District Commissioner of Scouts before joining the Lions Club of Devonport.

Since moving to the sunshine state, Alan has been a member of Lions clubs in Gympie South, Hervey Bay, Lake Currimundi -Kawana and Mooloolaba. Alan Moore has provided outstanding service to others through these clubs across the last half century. Alan Moore has been engaged in most executive and board roles across the expanse of the years. Acknowledgement of excellence and dedication awards include: an International President's Appreciation Certificate; the District Governors Award; A Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; James D Richardson Honour Award; William Tresise Fellowship Award; a Distinguished Service Award  and Life Membership of Lions International and the Mooloolaba club.

Many people would recall a helping hand from Alan across his 52 year long career as a pharmacist. In the local area he owned and operated the Buddina Pharmacy prior to retirement.

Lions members across the district, especially from his Mooloolaba club, share in the festivities of celebration and extend their thanks and congratulations for the leadership and support provided by a humble club member.
