Canna Nannas blaze a trail to the Sunshine Coast

A GROUP of grandmas dedicated to spruiking the health and medical benefits of going green are set to speak on the Sunshine Coast.

The Canna Nannas Education and Awareness Tour is coming to Nambour next month.

The group of grandmothers is embarking on a national tour educating elderly Australians about the benefits of cannabis and hemp.

Hemp products were made legal in November last year, meaning hemp ingredients can now crop up in foods and drinks as diverse as pizzas, salads and even beer.

The Canna Nannas are targeting age brackets not savvy on social media who may be unaware of the health benefits.

Retirement village, nursing home and RSL member groups are the target market for the Canna Nannas, who are recognised Australian ambassadors for the international Grannies for Grass organisation.

Understanding functions of the endocannabinoid system will be high on the list of education topics for the group, while they will also teach about the use of cannabis as a food and how to consume it without a psychoactive effect.

The Canna Nannas will be at the CWA Hall at 12 Short Street, Nambour, from 10am on March 17.
