Burnett is thriving with travellers this time of the year
FREQUENT visitors to the North Burnett, Pam and Joe Draheim are the leading foundation members of the Rum City Ramblers that was formed 14 years ago.
The group is open to anyone with an interest in travelling but those who want to take part must be members of the Camper-van and Motorhome Club of Australia.
Mrs Draheim said she couldn't believe it's been 14 years since the club was formed and it was all thanks to Matt Murray.
"We are foundation members, when the club was formed we were there alongside Matt Murray, he formed the club,” she said.
"Matt was a member of the Wide Bay Wanderers and it was huge so they decided we needed something out this way as he was originally from Bundaberg.
"We had half a dozen people who attended the meeting back in 2004 and consequently it was formed and was named Rum City Ramblers.”
One of the highlights for Mr Draheim over the past decade has been meeting new people.
"Companionship and doing something in our own district,” he said.
"We had so many friends here in Mundubbera, but unfortunately a lot of people have passed away since.”
The pair would like to thank the generosity of the Mundubbera Bowls Club for hosting the event.
"We'd like to thank Selina Druery and Marj Linsket for providing nibblies on Friday night and for hosting us caravanners,” she said.
Secretary Anne Hofmann has been part of the club for the past 12 years and said it's been a "great adventure.”
"It's a great friendly group to join,” she said.
