Bumper whale season: How many humbacks can we expect?
HERVEY Bay is expected to deliver another bumper whale watching season and Fraser Coast Opportunities is encouraging residents to roll out the welcome mat for their friends and family.
FCO marketing manager Brad Nardi urged people to bring their families to the region.
"We have already been seeing some fantastic humpback whale action in our backyard this year," Mr Nardi said.
"Many locals tend to take the experience for granted, so we are encouraging the Fraser Coast to get their friends and families here, as well as enjoying this world famous experience for themselves," he said.
"When you head out, remember to post your photos and videos to social media and use our hashtags #whalesherveybay and #visitfrasercoast."
This year an estimated 22,000 humpback whales have migrated from Antarctica to the warm northern waters to breed.
The new humpback parents and calves are now on their return journey and have started making their annual migration stop-over in Hervey Bay.
They will stay in our waters until early November.
