Toowoomba was coldest place in Queensland

WELLCAMP Airport was the coldest place in Queensland on Saturday morning, shivering into the day with the mercury sitting at -6.4 degrees.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonty Hall said it was also the coldest day in seven years for Oakey, where the mercury got down to -6.2 degrees.

"In Gatton (on Sunday morning) they got down to -3.6 degrees, their coolest morning since 2002, 16 years," Mr Hall said.

Mr Hall said the cool mornings would remain well into next week.

"The daytime temperatures are going to creep up a bit, three or four degrees above average," he said. "It could make it to 20 degrees in Toowoomba on Tuesday and Oakey may get up to 23."
