Brothers' death-defying high-wire performance
AS HARD as you try, it is almost impossible not to scream with white-knuckle tension when you watch a death-defying high-wire performance.
Fortunately for high-wire-performing brothers Vicente and Angel Quiros, the screams are all part of the show and don't affect their concentration.
In fact these daring Spanish brothers and circus veterans draw energy from the screams, even when balanced on a small table while riding a bicycle on a high wire.
"We see and hear everything when we are up there,” Vicente said. "We are used to it.”
The brothers will be in Brisbane from November 24 to January 8 to perform in Cirque du Soleil's much-awaited Kooza.
Vicente and Angel come from a sixth-generation family of traditional circus performers.

"We have had decades of training,” Vicente said. "We started with low wire, one-metre high, no problem if you fall and land on the floor.
"We practised for hours every day with our father, our coach, until we made it to the first high wire, not too high at first, but then more and more, higher and higher, more and more risky.”
Both brothers are looking forward to performing in Brisbane.
"I have been to Brisbane a long time ago and remember it as a beautiful city,” Vicente said. "We want people to come to the show and scream if they want to. We like to look the audience in the eye, we love it. Come at see us at Kooza, it's an incredible show.”
