Broadbeach Bowls Club will transform with $3.5m upgrade

BROADBEACH Bowls Club will be transformed into a world-class venue ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), thanks to local businesses which are leading the $3.5 million upgrade.

Commonwealth Games Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the progress on stage one of the upgrade highlighted how local businesses were helping to deliver GC2018.

"Over the past four months, more than 28 local companies have worked on stage one of the upgrade, with more than 250 workers playing a part in construction," Mr Hinchliffe said.

"This upgrade has also allowed the Broadbeach Bowls Club to expand and hire an additional six staff, including one apprentice kitchenhand and five trainees who will now work in hospitality, management and customer service at the club.

"The $3.5 million project will deliver a world-class lawn bowls facility that will be a lasting legacy for the community and ensure the Gold Coast can continue to attract major national and international competitions and championships into the future."
