Brass band members honoured with medals

FOUR members of the Harlaxton RSL Brass Band have been awarded Queensland Band Association medals for service to the brass band movement in Queensland.

Greg Zische, the euphonium and librarian was presented with the long service medallion, David Kemp, who is a drum major and plays percussion was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal.

Mike Gowdie, who plays the tuba and is the band president, was awarded the long service medallion and the 50 year medal.

Bill Hills, the deputy drum major and secretary, was awarded both the distinguished service medal and NBC medal.

They were presented with their awards by Toowoomba Regional Council deputy mayor Carol Taylor representing band patron TRC mayor Paul Antonio, and the Harlaxton RSL sub branch treasurer Mark Ellem, during the Carnival of Flowers Music in the Park program at Laurel Bank Park on September 25.
