Boy, 12, steals grandpa's credit card for shopping spree
A TWELVE-year-old Palmview boy was caught out mid-spending spree, after stealing his grandfather's credit card and hitting the shops.
Sunshine Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives said the boy was on his way to racking up another bill on the card on Saturday when staff at a Caloundra scooter shop caught on to the scam.
The boy had used the stolen card with success at a Kings Beach corner store a few times, before buying parts for his scooter at the Caloundra Rd scooter shop.
A return trip to the scooter shop proved his undoing though, as police were called and he was charged with one count of stealing and three counts of fraud.
He made full admissions to police and showed remorse for his actions, and was cautioned under the Youth Justices Act on Monday.
The boy was believed to have purchased the goods - about $80 worth in total - with Pay Wave technology, but detectives believe a payment may have declined, alerting shop staff to the issue.
