BMW-Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo redefines the performance limo
GOT a spare $370,000 and a penchant for ballistic uber-limousines?
Behold the BMW Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo Sedan, a 447kW and 800Nm V8 bruiser based on BMW's 7 Series, which despite its 2110kg weight can crack 100kmh in 4.2 seconds and on to 330kmh.
Alpina is a manufacturer in its own right, and has been churning out its own highly tuned versions of BMWs for decades, complete with unique styling cues.
Notice the B7's 21-inch twenty-spoke forged alloy wheels, body kit, pair of twin Alpina tailpipes and discreet Alpina detailing.
Alpina's signature blue and green colours adorn the dials and stitching for the hand-finished leather steering wheel, while you can option your B7 in exclusive Alpina blue or green metallic colours.
The 4.4-litre V8's jump in power over a normal 7 Series is courtesy of Alpina's specially developed pair of turbochargers, bespoke air intake system, intercooler, high-performance cooling system and performance exhaust.
An Alpina Sport+ mode drops the B7 by 20mm using a 2-axle air suspension system, lowering the car's centre of gravity for improved agility and stability.
Further chassis tweaks, a revised eight-speed auto transmission, giant Alpina brakes and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres also feature.
On the comfort front there's Nappa leather, electric heated and massaging rear seats which recline to a 45-degree flat angle, 10-inch colour displays on the front seat head rests and a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof with an LED-based lighting installation comprised of over 15,000 lighting elements which change colour with your ambient lighting. Groovy.
And if you ever get bored in that palace-like rear, you can always take control of the 447kW V8 twin-turbo yourself.
You can even option a Drexler LSD if you fancy fanging your Alpina limo round the race track.
Quite the all-rounder, now if only it didn't have that RRP of $369,720…
