Bill Hoffman's warning comment on development
FURTHER to Bill Hoffman's comment of 30 Sept, I want ensure that residents are aware of a further potential land grab by developers.
The residents of Pelican Waters and the greater community enjoy the Environment Management and Conservation Zone to the west of Tweedell Drive.
The area of remnant vegetation and regrowth is home to abundant wildlife and birds such as the black Cockatoos.
There is a well utilised walk through the zone adjacent the creek that leads to a kangaroo area.
Our Council utilised best endeavours to rezone part of the area to low density residential.
This was overturned by State Government but to be zoned Open Space.
Council also intend to expand the Urban Growth Boundary to encompass the new Open Space area leaving it very exposed to future low density residential with Lot sizes as small as 300 sq m and 10 m frontages.
The Caloundra South development announced today recognises the significance of this buffer zone however it appears that our Council is focused on further loss of any regulated vegetation and regrowth areas.
