LYNNSAY Fryer is something of a jack-of-all trades with just a dash of Renaissance man thrown in for good measure.
With a wide and varied career portfolio, it is not surprising that his "retirement" activities are equally diverse.
Mr Fryer variously divides his time between water colour painting, writing poetry and playing guitar in his band.
But it is a love of the open road, a passion for BMW motorcycles and the enjoyment of others' company that drive his current passion - Big Bike Tours.
Centred in the township of Pittsworth, Big Bike Tours involves people from a variety of backgrounds, age groups and professions who just happen to share the joy of motorcycle riding.
Lynnsay explained: "This is really all about the company of good folks … Joie de vivre (a joy of life) … everyone looking out for and caring about each other".
Short rides (100-300km) are alternated with longer rides (up to 600km) with an ever-changing schedule of routes and each ride typically includes time for "smoko and a gossip" and lunch at a country pub.
Contrary to what some might think, this social gathering of riders is not impacted by Queensland's so-called "Bikie Laws".
Lynnsay said: "Such laws apply only to 'prescribed persons' of 'prescribed groups' … we [Big Bike Tours] are 'riders in free association'; not a club or a group".
There are no "leaders", no fees and people coming and going as they wish.
