A BENEFIT concert held after Brisbane's devastating floods did not raise a single cent for the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal, despite a promise from promoter Andrew McManus to donate all the event's profits to the fund.

But Mr McManus, through his lawyers, said the Reggae For Recovery concert, held in Brisbane's Botanic Gardens on January 30, did not make a profit.

The Brisbane concert was originally promoted as part of the Raggamuffin touring festival. Although it drew 35,000 people in Auckland, the Australian leg of the 2011 tour was plagued by bad weather, poor ticket sales and the withdrawal of headline artist Sean Paul, whose name continued to be used in advertising for months after his appearance was cancelled.

Two weeks before the Brisbane concert, Mr McManus announced a change of name and plan for the event.

"In response to the devastation in Queensland, Andrew McManus Presents today announces that all profits from Brisbane's Raggamuffin concert, now a charity event called 'Reggae For Recovery - Flood Relief Benefit Concert' - will be donated to the people of Queensland through the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal," the Gold Coast-raised, Melbourne-based promoter announced on his website on January 17.
