Beefy’s Pies to open new Coast store
ICONIC Sunshine Coast eatery Beefy's Pies is about its ninth store - and brace yourself Maroochydore - it's coming to you.
On the site of a former video store at 54-56 Aerodrome Rd, the award-winning pie shop, which is still a family-owned company, will open in mid-July.
"We identified there was a need for another store and we had feedback from people in Maroochydore that they had to go to the Buderim store, so we feel like there's a need there," Beefys' chief operations officer Brett Hooper said.
The shop is at the fit-out stage at the minute and will have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Before this latest venture, Beefy's opened a store at Mango Hill, and before that, North Lakes.
The Aussie World and Buderim stores were the company's first stores.
Since then, the company has become famous for having the best gluten free pie in Australia, which is won at the Great Aussie Pie Competition in Sydney.
Mr Hooper said Beefy's attended a gluten free expo in Brisbane recently.
"For coeliacs this was a fantastic opportunity for some of them to taste a pie for the first time," he said.
To Sunshine Coast towns hoping to get their own branch of the pie shop:
"Never say never," Mr Hooper said.
"Knowing the director Mark Hobb, he's always on the lookout for a good site but let's get number nine set up first."
