Beach club to be marquee star of Noosa Alive!

ORGANISERS of Noosa Alive! (formerly The Noosa Long Weekend) keep adding more excitement to the 10-day festival to take place from July 21 - 30.

The latest innovation is the Rococo Beach Club Marquee on Noosa's main beach.

An official venue for the festival, the marquee will have a dynamic Latin beach club atmosphere with cabaret dinner and shows, casual beach parities and barbecues, fashion show lunches, art workshops and children's activities.

Noosa continues to be a backdrop for the popular winter festival and is set to shine among an ambitious line-up of stars to invade Noosa.

Noosa alive! Producer, Richard Pace believes the addition of the marquee on the beach will enhance the festival's appeal even further.

" Noosa Alive! is an exciting time on the Sunshine Coast and I jumped at the chance to be involved," he said "When people think of Noosa they think of our glorious main beach, our sub-tropical lifestyle and Hastings St...what better place to showcase Noosa Alive!"

Festival president, Johanne Wright says the hard work by many to create the Rococo Beach Club Marquee will bring even more visitors to the town.

"There was no point in changing our festival's name unless we were serious about delivering a program that honored the new brand and the most stunning of locations," she said "I am exceptionally proud of this program."

On other news, a highlight of the festival will be a performance by New Zealand's sweetheart Jennifer Ward-Lealand. In Falling in Love Again

In falling in Love Again Jennifer Ward-Lealand pays tribute to Marlene Dietrich singing highlights from Dietrich's films, concerts and recordings.

Jennifer features songs by Cole Porter, Edith Piaf, Frederic Hollander and Pete Seeger.

Jennifer and Grant are joined by bass player, Aaron Coddel. Beautifully lit by lighting designer Andrew Malmo, and featuring an exquisite recreation of one of Dietrich's famous gowns, this show vividly captures the style and glamour of a time gone by. This is an Australian premiere and has been a smash hit in New Zealand.

This performance will take place on Friday, July 28, at The J.

The Rococo Beach Club program will run in the marquee on Main Beach between July 27 and 30.
