LETTER: Australia Post continues to downgrade its services
I LIVE on my own land at South Ripley on the edge of what is now a thriving community.
Here, I enjoy all the benefits of being close to suburbia without being part of it.
This is great, except for one fly in the ointment; Australia Post refuses to deliver small parcels to my home.
This includes mail order items that I have to pay postage on.
I have to travel into Raceview post office (an 18km trip), to pick up items that I have paid to be delivered to my home. This also includes registered letters.
When the once great Australia Post was contacted about the problem their response was "that it is not the policy of Australia post to deliver parcels to homes".
As my friends would say: "this surely can't be right".
Is it no wonder that this once great Australian icon is now going down the gurgler due to privatization.
Am I just a crusty old whinger who expects the service that I pay for, or are there others out there who have had a gut full of being charged more for less?
