The Arts Centre Gold Coast celebrates 30 years

THE Arts Centre Gold Coast is this week celebrating 30 years since opening its doors for the first time.

The centre first welcomed guests on December 6, 1986, with huge fanfare.

There was a soft opening in the afternoon with all the local politicians and media in attendance, followed by a huge celebration that night with Pop Goes The Centre - A performance by The Queensland Pops Orchestra and The Queensland State and Municipal Choir.

Everyone dressed in their finest and it really was a memorable experience.

The Arts Centre is now the Gold Coast's premier cultural facility, bringing visual and performing arts to residents of South East Queensland.

With stage 1 of the Cultural Precinct underway, The Arts Centre Gold Coast and The Gold Coast Cultural Precinct will soon become the place where people come together to engage with arts, culture and each other, like Melbourne's Federation Square or New York City's Times Square.
