Anzac Day road closures for Ipswich and surrounds
POLICE would like to advise of road closures around the Ipswich region to facilitate services and parades for Anzac Day.
A dawn service will occur at 4.27am at the Cenotaph, Moreton Avenue, Redbank Plains. There are no road closures associated with this event.
There will be an Anzac Day Service at 5.30am at the Springfield Central War Memorial, Robelle Domain Parklands, Springfield Central.
This will be a 45 minute service, the powerpoint commences at 5.20am. The Orion Lagoon carpark will be closed for VIP and handicapped parking. There will be a Gunfire breakfast afterwards at the Orion Hotel. Orion underground parking will be open and available to attendees.
There will be a march commencing at 9.20am from SES premises on Willow Road, Redbank Plains to the Moreton Avenue Cenotaph. The route changed due to road/park works; there are no new road closures associated with this event. The service will follow.
Goodna residents are reminded that due to Anzac Day ceremonies there will be some minor disruptions to traffic.
There will be a march and dawn service at Bridge Street, Redbank at about 4.21am followed by another service at 11am.
In Goodna a dawn service at 4.27am will be followed by another service at 7.30am.
The services and associated marches will have some impact on local traffic and police will be on hand to coordinate. Please be patient while the community commemorates this important day.
Karana Downs will host two Anzac Day events this year.
A Dawn Service will be held at 4:27am at the Ipswich Adventist School in Hunter Street, Brassall.
At 7:15am a march will leave from Smith Street, North Ipswich turn into Delacy Street and continue to the Ipswich Railway Workshops Museum, followed by a service at 7:30am at the Honour Stone.
There will be a temporary road closure of Delacy Street for the purpose of the march and service. It is expected that the road closure will only have a minor impact to local traffic.
