The Annual Brisbane Model Train Show is on again on Saturday and Sunday 7 and 8th May 2016 at the Marque, Brisbane Showgrounds. Model trains have been part of growing up for decades and the interest has developed into a hobby that both men and women pursue into their adult life.

The Train Show is expected to attract large crowds with a multi-generational mix of attendees with affordable entry prices including adults $15, concessions $10 and children under 16 free when accompanied by a paying adult. The new venue will give over 5500 square metres of display space all under the one roof on one level. This will be one of the largest train shows in Australia with over 100 displays. The pavilion will be full of trains of all sizes plus interactive displays for children, train shops and refreshments.  Full size steam train rides run by the Workshop Rail Museum will operate from the nearby Exhibition station during the two mornings of the show. The largest and longest Queensland Railways model steam train of 30 metres will be operating. This was built over a 40-year period by Brisbane's Dannenberg families.

Access to the Brisbane Showgrounds is from Bowen Hills train station nearby. Onsite paid parking ($12/day) is available with entry via O'Connell Terrace.

The AMRA Queensland Branch was formally formed in 1954 and the club house is located at 20 Murphy Road, Zillmere. Activities include the Day-lighters on Tuesdays; Garden Railway group on 3rd Saturday of month which involves battery, steam (coal and gas) and rail powered. The group also operate on the last Sunday of the month. Time table running nights are on the last Friday of month. Visitors and new members are welcome. Telephone the clubhouse on 3862 9633 or 0433 440 031 for more information. See the model train website www.brisbanemodeltrainshow.com.au
