IT'S on again.

State of Origin is a great time to be a rugby league fan, and an even better time to be a Queenslander.

For the past seven years, the mighty Maroons have dominated in the toughest games within one of the world's toughest sports.

Already, they have more than doubled the previous best winning streak of three in a row, and many punters believe this year they will make it eight straight.

It is so long since New South Wales won a series, there has never been a Facebook status update celebrating a series win.

I suppose the only question to be asked is whether this dominance is too much of a good thing.

The answer - of course not!

The reason is NSW just make it so easy to experience schadenfreude.

Every time Paul Gallen has another cry to the referee, it's impossible not to smile.

Every time the NSW selectors pick another new five-eighth to start a series, you can't help but chuckle.

You have to laugh out loud when past players like Garry Jack try to venture an opinion on Qld selections, or when Benny Elias opens his mouth to say anything at all.

When you're done laughing, NSW can even provide some material for deep philosophical ponderings, such as why Kurt Gidley.

Not why he does anything in particular, just why he is.

Yes, the streak will have to end one day.

One horrible day, and children in primary schools will finally wake to world where a NSW victory has occurred within their lifetimes.

Until then though, once more with feeling...
