A harvest of fresh local produce every Saturday

A NEW fresh market bursts on to the Sunny Coast scene on September 17.

The brainchild of "marketpreneur" and long-time local Helen Langlois, the Hinterland Harvest Market is calling for final applications from farmers, growers and gourmet foodies who have the freshest produce to offer.

Long-regarded as a market manager who sprinkles the magic while getting things done, Helen brings a mix of formidable energy with a clear eye for curating the best stalls to achieve optimal results for the local and wider farming communities.

She was moved to action after many stallholders across the Sunshine Coast urged her to bring her own flavour, once again, to the region's market scene.

Hinterland Harvest Market - A Feast of Fresh Flavours will be held every Saturday from 6-11am at Suncoast Church carpark in Kiel Mountain Rd, Woombye.

Helen hopes that with plenty of parking available, the initiative will become the epicentre of fresh food markets to service the hinterland.

"The region requires a good, regular, well-managed, real fresh food market to connect its communities," Helen said.

"In many years of travelling and cruising abroad, the first thing I sought out in each new destination were the local markets.

"That's where you find the heart and soul of towns, by meeting locals and observing the customer-producer relationships."

By aiming to deliver ethical food sources and contacts to produce strong food connections between the community and growers, Helen said this weekly market opportunity would return what had been missing in the region: connecting real food with real people in an enjoyable meeting place.
