Two bodies found in NSW house fire

THE remains of two people have been found after a house fire in Sydney.

Firefighters were called to a Penshurst home yesterday about 3.30am. Two men had managed to escape the fire but an elderly couple living at the back of the property could not be found.

Remains were discovered later and a post-mortem will be conducted to identify them.

Firefighters said they struggled to gain entry because of a build-up of rubbish and other items inside the building.
