Policewoman concussed in Brisbane disturbance

A POLICEWOMAN allegedly has been assaulted during a disturbance involving about 20 people at Brisbane's South Bank Parklands cultural precinct.

Police say officers arrived at the scene about 10.15pm on Saturday and tried to break up the group, only to have things turn violent.

A female constable was treated for concussion, and one officer used her capsicum spray after a woman allegedly obstructed her from breaking up the disturbance.

The woman was taken into custody after receiving medical care.

Police arrested nine men and women between ages 18 and 34 on charges ranging from assaulting a police officer, drug possession, affray and public nuisance.

They are all due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 16.
