Marriage equality supporters begin nationwide campaign

AUSTRALIAN Marriage Equality launched a nationwide campaign Sunday that included TV advertisements featuring people showing their support for same-sex marriage.

The campaign, titled #WeCanDoThis, was launched in the ACT.

The series of TV ads will feature Australians from all walks of life expressing their support for marriage equality and will call on the Australian Parliament to stop delaying a reform.

It also coincided with parliament due to resume from the winter break and with the cross-party marriage equality bill expected to be lodged this week.

Australian Marriage Equality national director Rodney Croome said footballers, farmers, priests, parents and high-profile Australians including Hugo Weaving and Julia Morris, were part of the campaign.

"Support for marriage equality has never been stronger and with the cross-party bill to be introduced this week we have never had a better chance to achieve the reform," he said.
