Churches offering classes on giving refugees sanctuary

HUNDREDS of people across the country attended churches yesterday to learn how to offer sanctuary and protect asylum seekers at risk of being deported to Nauru.

A group of 267 asylum seekers face deportation from Australia to offshore detention and processing.

National Church Sanctuary Movement co-ordinator Misha Coleman said the support from churches, religious organisations and the public had been astounding.
