A JURY has been discharged from giving a verdict on a man who has been accused of operating the former Sunshine Coast-based whitegoods company Kleenmaid while it was insolvent.

A trial started earlier this month in Brisbane District Court for two brothers, Bradley Wendel Young, 49 and Andrew Eric Young, 62, who were facing 20 charges including two counts of fraud and 18 counts of failing to prevent a company incurring a debt at a particular time.

Kleenmaid collapsed in April 2009 when the company was placed into administration.

After hearing nine days of evidence, the trial was adjourned on Monday.

The jury returned on Wednesday when Judge Brad Farr told them the trial would continue for only one of the men; Bradley Young.

He said the adjournment was to allow Andrew Young's defence team time to find another barrister.

"That has proved to be an impossible task in such a short timeframe," he said.

Judge Farr said he had decided that Andrew Young's trial could not proceed because he did not have representation that was properly prepared to take on his case.

He discharged the jury of returning verdicts for Andrew Young but said the trial would continue for Bradley Young.
