A SECURITY expert has called for children to learn about Islam and Middle Eastern politics at school to fill a space extremists could fill.
Federal and state ministers are expected to tackle a range of policy measures designed to curb youth radicalisation.
Australian Strategic Policy Institute executive director Peter Jennings told News Corp educating children about Islam could help combat radical voices.
He said just "one extra hour having a sensible discussion about contemporary Middle Eastern politics, they might not be seeking that information out online".
In May state and federal education ministers agreed in May to review how to better support young people believed to be at risk of radicalisation.
According to a News Corp report the finalised review will be presented to Minister's at Friday's Council of Australian Governments meeting. - APN NEWSDESK
