A MAN who kicked the tail off one of the fibreglass sharks at Vic Hislop's Shark Show has been fined in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.

Brendan John Lee pleaded guilty to wilful damage, after an all-night bender with some mates ended in a shark attack with a difference.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell could not hide his disappointment with the crime.

"Those sharks have been here for longer than me," Mr Tatnell said.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Nicole Kunkel said Lee and three other men were seen kicking the fibreglass shark about 6.20am on May 5.

The court heard Lee and his friends had been drinking all night, and Mr Tatnell accepted that the offence was out of character.

Lee apologised in court for damaging Mr Hislop's shark, and said the offence was stupid.

Lee was fined $500, but no conviction was recorded due to his lack of any previous offences.

The men co-accused for the shark damage had their cases adjourned.
